Web Marketing Tips
If you are thinking about writing your own web site, here are some ideas that you might find useful.
  1. Make sure that the copy you write for your site is concise and compelling. However much time or money you spend on your site design and implentation, it will be wasted if the text on the site falls short. If you do not write well, consider finding someone who does and asking them to tidy up your initial draft.
  2. Remember that the goal of your web site is to generate business. Even if customers cannot directly purchase your product or service through your web site, the site should be establishing your credentials and giving visitors a sense of what it would be like to do business with you.
  3. Ensure that your site visitors' activity is trackable. If visitors can purchase from directly on your web site, it's easy to measure how many of them buy from you. If you do not offer the type of product or service that lends itself to online purchase, consider editing a email newsletter for which visitors can sign up on your site. You can then measure the number of people who sign up, and track them back to the search they used or the ad they clicked on in order to find your site. This will tell you which search strings or ads are effective. You can also provide special offers in your newsletter with a tracking code that tells you which offers are effective.
